Ivey Monuments was started in 1875 in Galena by George W. Ivey and J.P. Vincent and was brought to Mount Carroll in 1898 or 1899.
Here are photos of original Ivey Monument Building

It opened in its current location in 1914 at 204 W. Market St.

John Ivey then took it over in 1947 and ran it for 34 years.

As a child, Ken Lego would come down to Ivey Monuments to hang out.
He got to know John Ivey, who ran the shop when Ken was a child. “
John was like a father to me. He really was.” Ken said.
In 1988 Ken stepped forward to buy the business. Diane began working in the office in July of 1991.
Now in 2024, Mike Wawro purchased the business, but Ken and Diane are continuing to manage and operate Ivey Monuments.
